Because of changing my hosting provider my website has not been working a few month. Thanks to this posting I fixed the problem. News: I bought a second hand eMate 300 with "hinge fix" and memory upgrade - excellent device! New Software: MailV got another update (Version 5.2.1) and Simon Bell did it again after all those years for the newton community: Newton Connection for Mac OS X.

Paul Guyot has ported his NewtonOS Emulator Einstein to arm-linux devices. He demoed a prototype at the World Wide Newton Conference WWNC in San Francisco on a Sharp Zaurus Linux PDA. Pictures of the WWNC are available at tow.com.

News regarding the Newton are rare - a good overview what still happens is provided by Newtontalk. The "hardcore" newton scene is quite activ though - WWNC in Paris 9/4/2004, software from Ekkhard Koeppen or Paul Guyot - and is moving from a virtual community to a community that meets in real life. Both of my Newtons are still alive but not much in use anymore. Todays business life with synchronisation needs and hundreds of e-mails with attachments cannot be handled by my 2100 anymore - though it does WLAN and Bluetooth. Nowadays a Qtek 9090 PocketPC with GSM/GPRS/WLAN does what Newton could have done in 2004 - just think of the Qtek 9090 in an iPod design with Newton OS 2004 ;-)

Sealie Computing released NewtChat AIM Client for Newton Message Pads, 40hz.org steadily improves its Webbrowser Courier and is working on a bluetooth driver called Blunt.

NCQ is freeware now. There is a "bugfixed" Version 2.1Bc353 of Lunasuite by Richard Li (Author of the famous SysPatch). A must have is the Newton WLAN Driver and NewtSync to Sync iCal and MacOS X Addressbook with your newton!

The first steps have been taken towards updating newton.guhl.net to version 2.0. I decided to use the small weblication PHPWebEd to manage the content of these webpages. The pages should be readable by most newton webbrowsers. Get more information about PhpWebEd.
